Do you have a business idea that would like to further explore? Have you tried to think about ways for your research to become a business, but aren’t sure where to start? Even if you don’t have an idea but have had the desire to start a new venture and emerge yourself in the exciting entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, this is the right place for you! – Entrepreneurial skills are for life!

The University of Edinburgh DDE Venture Builder Incubator will be delivered online through the University of Edinburgh’s world-leading innovation and enterprise hub, the Bayes Centre, in partnership with strategic design team Nile and student-run accelerator EdVenture.

The programme is mainly but not exclusively for PhD students who want to explore a business idea and create a venture. This is for those interested in developing entrepreneurial skills and building solutions that fit with a digital transformation that has the potential to transform industries. deliver positive impacts through a wider range of innovation areas, and engage in hands-on entrepreneurship. We have everything prepared to help you along your entrepreneurial journey to create a business or become part of a founding team.

Over four months you’ll have the chance to be creative, explore opportunities, connect ideas to the world, meet like-minded individuals, get at the heart of a vibrant community and develop skills that will make your ‘idea’ a reality and will always be an advantage in your professional life.

*The programme has been designed to ensure your studies are complimented and the time commitment fits flexibly around other commitments.

Who can apply?

Mainly for PhD students and postdocs from the University of Edinburgh, however other student and staff will be considered.

Time commitment?

Approximately 12 hours a month over 4 months
